May 5: Meet in Kathmandu
May 6: Full Day sightseeing of Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa & Pasupatinath Temple
May 7: Fly into Lukla (9,383 ft.) We will fly (35 minute flight) from Kathmandu to Lukla and then continue our trek to Phakdingma (8,700 ft.) where we will spend the night. This is about a 4-6 hour trek through the Sherpa villages of Chuplung, Ghat and Phakdingma. We will see beautiful Mani walls, the Dudh Koshi River, and plenty of mountains.
May 8: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (11,300 ft.) We will trek to Namche crossing the Dudh Koshi River about six times. Views from the iconic suspension bridges are breathtaking! Mountain Goats and the Nepali national bird, the danphe, can be seen throughout the Sagaramatha National Park. We will stop at Jorsale, about a half hour walk from the Sagaramatha National Park check post. After lunch we will continue to hike to Namche by climbing the Namche Hill. The Namche Hill is about a 2 hour climb and we will gain about 2600 ft. in elevation.
May 9: Acclimatization day, visit the Sherpa Museum and Everest View Hotel.
May 10: Trek to Thame (12,533 ft.) This is a 4-6 hour trek. Lunch will be served at the halfway point in Thamo village. The Sherpa village of Thame is clearly seen from here and is about an hour and half trek from Thamo.
May 11: Rest Day at Thame (12,533 ft.)
May 12: Trek from Thame to Lungden (14,432 ft.). This is a trek through a remote Sherpa village and Himalayan meadows. Now we are in the high Himalayan wilderness! We’ll continue to gain altitude as we trek through a beautiful and isolated area. Very few trekkers are seen on this trail. If needed, we will spend one more night here for acclimatization. Most trekkers go to Gokyo Valley from Lungden.
May 13: Rest Day at Lungden (14432 ft.)
MAy 14: Trek to Gokyo (over Ranjo pass (17,535 ft.) The pass can be icy and/or snowy. Views from the pass are amazing so we’ll make plenty of time to spend at the top for photos. This will be a challenging days as we are at true himalayan altitude and the trails may be very difficult depending on the weather.
May 15: Trek Gokyo to Dragnag (15,387 ft.) We will cross the Ngozumpa Glacier moraine and camp at Dragnag. This is a pleasantly short trek..we’ve earned it!
May 16: Trek to Dozongla (15,846 ft.) via Cho La pass (17782 ft.) The Cho La pass can be icy and snowy as well, we will use ice axes and ropes if needed, but no experience is necessary. We will have a great view of Ama Dablam, Lotse, Pumori and the Khumbu Glacier, as well as a close view of Mt. Everest from the pass at Khumbu Valley. If the weather does not allow us to cross the Cho La pass we will take the alternative route via the Sherpa village of Phortse.
May 16: Trek from Dozongla to Gorekshep (17008ft.). We hike from here to Labuche (16175 ft.) , another popular camping and lodging encampment on the way to Everest Base Camp. The views of Everest, Nupse and Pumori are spectacular from here! This is a truly beautiful hike. We may hike up to Kala Patther (18192 ft.) in the evening for sunset view on Everest depending on how the team is feeling. Kala Patthar has THE BEST view of Everest. Gorakhshep for overnight camp/lodge.
May 17: Trek to Everest Base Camp (17500ft.). Today we explore the Khumbu Ice Fall and Everest Base Camp and spend the night in expedition tents.
May 19: Trek to Pheruche (13,912 ft.). This is a beautiful hike through the Khumbu Valley. Pheruche and Dingboche are the highest point in the Khumbu region where they grow potatoes and barley as crops in summer.
May 20: Trek to Tengboche (12,687 ft.). We will camp close to the sacred monastery of Tengboche and visit it in the morning. From here on we are lean, mean, trekking machines. The hiking will be surprisingly easy and enjoyable!
May 21: Trek to Namche Bazaar
May 22: Trek to Phakdingma.
May 23: Trek to Lukla.
May 24: Flight back to Kathmandu.
May 25: Free Day in Kathmandu
May 26: Departure from Kathmandu
